POLITICIANS OBSSESSED WITH POLITICKING SHOULD FIND ANOTHER JOB, SAYS President of Sabah Youth Council.

KOTA KINABALU: With the general election now over and done with, the GRS Sabah Government deserves to be given time and space to focus on what matters most to every Sabahan: better lives and livelihoods.

ABQAREE FAWWAZ ABEKAN said none of this can happen if the government continues to be dragged into endless politicking.

“Sadly, this is what the people read almost every minute of every day. Too much politicking and it’s very unhealthy for Sabah.”

“Let the present government work on improving our lives. People are sick of politicians playing politics all day long. It’s as if they’re brain dead. People expect them to contribute sound ideas for Sabah’s development. Yet, all they do is talking bad about the GRS leaders and government,” he said.

He said this in response to ongoing political arguments and debates particularly in social media platforms surrounding the question of the legitimacy of the state leadership following the exodus of 19 state and federal lawmakers from Sabah Bersatu earlier this month.

He argued that legitimate or not, Sabahans just want to move on with their lives.

“For obvious reasons, only certain politicians keep barking about this issue of legitimacy. As for the rest of us ‘rakyat’, we want to move on with our lives and expect the GRS state government to just continue doing its work uninterrupted. That’s all,” he said.

He stressed that for the people, the issue of bread and butter is far more important than which party should rule the state or who should be Chief Minister.

“Times are hard and it looks like it’s going to get a lot harder.”

“What Sabahans want to hear from their leaders and the government is ideas on how to build a stronger economy and how to put food on people’s table.

“So, please tell us about your ideas for development, not politicking all day long,” he pleaded.

He said Sabahans want to know from the government and leaders how they plan to increase the state’s GDP per capita from the current USD6,000 to USD12,000 which is the national average.

He said if political leaders do not know how to take Sabah out of poverty, they might as well find another job.
