BEAUFORT: The Sabah Ethnic Roots Association (Presbah) reminds certain party leaders in the coalition government not to interfere and show maturity at least until the time comes.
Its President, Yahya Ahmad, said Sabah has two more years for the current government to further prove itself performance.
“Why talk about the distribution of seats and issues related to politics, this is not the time.
“When there are many issues of people’s interests, it is better that we develop ideas on how to empower them,” he said.
He said when the political stories of impending elections and subsequent seat distribution are brought up, they would only distract the government from fully doing their job in realising the Sabah Maju Jaya aspirations.
“The people have no choice but to count on a mandated government in bringing ideal changes. Sometimes we are grieving over the weaknesses in the management of an entrusted individual. When management has failed, people begin seeing a distorted image of the government.
“Any good governance should continue to move forward and we should not interfere. It needs to be supported as the results will benefit the people,” he said in a statement.
He said in State Civil Service, the State Secretary ensures the day-to-day affairs of governments run smoothly.
“The same goes for GLCs whose trustworthiness could carry the image of a good government. Ministers need not be reminded to do their job in helping the people and iron out.
“It is just shameful when the people complain about a leader who gets paid for doing nothing, and if they willingly allow it happen, eventually affects department morale.
“YBs are elected to lead and it is saddening if they are business-oriented rather than for the people. The people are mature and will choose a good government that is dedicated to work for them. We pray that the government has the power to bring change.
“Sow good deeds to reap the reward in the future. Eliminate conflicts or bad thoughts that separate Sabahans especially when it comes to politics. We don’t want to be stuck in the same loop forever. Differences are unavoidable but the fate of the state and its people must be in unison. Toss ego, anger and the vengefulness and lead a life to a grave of dignity,” he said.
