Bersatu to use PAS logo in Kelantan

Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin says party members who contest the 15th general election (GE15) in Kelantan will use the logo of PAS, a fellow component of the Perikatan Nasional (PN) coalition.

The two Bersatu members involved in this arrangement are Mustapa Mohamed (Jeli), and Ikmal Hisham Abdul Aziz (Tanah Merah).

Muhyiddin, who is also PN chairman, said the decision to use PAS’ logo in Kelantan would not cause trouble for the coalition.

“It doesn’t matter,” he said at an event in Kota Bharu last night.

“If we use PAS’ logo in Kelantan, we are sure to win.”

The event was also attended by PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang, Kelantan Menteri Besar Ahmad Yakob and Deputy Menteri Besar Nik Mohamad Amar Nik Abdullah.

PAS previously said that the three states under its administration would use the party’s logo, a matter agreed to by the PN Supreme Council.

Muhyiddin also urged voters in Kelantan to turn out on voting day even though the weather might not be conducive in this year’s monsoon-season polls.

“Whatever the situation, we must work to form a good government because the previous administrations, especially during BN’s time, were damaged enough,” he said, citing the misuse of public funds, corruption and leaders presently facing criminal charges in court.

“Do we want to hand over power to these evildoers?” he added.

Muhyiddin said voters in Kelantan should also support parties that would steer the state towards more rapid development, in terms of the economy, infrastructure, public facilities and job opportunities for the youth.

He said the achievements of the PAS government over the past 32 years could not be denied.

Nevertheless, he said Kelantan needed good relations with the central government, as was the case when PN led Putrajaya for 17 months.

“We will look at how to further Kelantan’s development,” he said.

“Fulfil your duty to vote, and pray that we achieve a big victory and manage to form the government.”
