Not true BN workers helping opposition

KALABAKAN: Kalabakan Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate, Datuk Andi Muhammad Suryady Bandy, said he has not received any reports that BN supporters are helping the opposition campaign.

However, he believed that such rumours were common, not to mention if the opposing party involved had no party branches and lacked supporters so they had to choose a ‘short cut’ by paying supporters of other parties, especially BN.

“Every citizen has the right to make choices and decisions but as voters, they should act wisely in choosing candidates and parties that have a good record to bring Kalabakan to a better direction,” he said.

Acknowledging that such tactics were common in any General Election (PRU), Andi, hoped that BN supporters who worked as the machinery of the opposition party would still vote for BN.

“We all know the importance of the general election to form a government and it is certain that we want a stable government, able to protect the people and be able to guarantee them… When November 19 arrives, they know who they want to vote for,” he said, after officiating a course for Rela officers in conjunction with GE15, involving 270 officers and members

Regarding the introduction of ‘Kalabakan Family’ concept in his campaign, Andi said the concept was significant to the residents of the area  that comprised various religious, racial and ethnic backgrounds but live under one roof.

“As a family, it is likened to ‘the right thigh is squeezed, the left thigh is felt’ and that is why we want the people of Kalabakan to unite and elect a government so that nobody falls out of the development stream for the sake of our children,” he said.

He hoped that there would not be any ugly incidents and that the voting process would take place in a peaceful and fair atmosphere, as a result of the security forces on duty, including Rela officers.
