OFFICIAL: BN wins in Tioman with slim 573 majority

PETALING JAYA: Barisan Nasional’s Johari Hussain has won the Tioman state seat in Pahang with a slim majority of 573 votes.

Johari was in a five-cornered contest for the seat with Nor Idayu Hashim (Perikatan Nasional), Fadzli Ramly (Pakatan Harapan), Osman A Bakar (Pejuang) and independent candidate Sulaiman Bakar.

PH had made way for BN in the election.
Johari received 8,080 votes, followed closely by Nor Idayu (7,507), Fadzli (784), Osman (79) and Sulaiman (58).

The Election Commission said the final voter turnout for the seat was 58.39%.

The election for the state seat was postponed following the death of Perikatan Nasional candidate Yunus Ramli, 61, in the early hours of the 15th general election (GE15) on Nov 19.

Johari won the seat in the 2018 general election with a 1,280-vote majority against Yunus in a four-cornered fight.
