MoU for Sabah’s space launch aspirations signed

Three parties including one from Ukraine sign the MoU.

KOTA KINABALU: A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on a feasibility study into the space industry development proposal in Sabah was signed last night.

The Chief Minister, Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor, witnessed the MoU signing ceremony in conjunction with the inauguration of the Sabah Science Awards (MASS) 2023 at the Shangri-La Tanjung Aru Resort, here, according to a statement.

The MoU was signed between three parties namely the Sabah Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation represented by its Permanent Secretary Datuk Zainudin Aman, Sovereign Sengalang Sdn Bhd represented by its Group Managing Director/Deputy Chairman Mohd Ezra Effendi and the Yuzhnoye State Design Office represented by Denys MyKhailiuk, the Charge d’ Affaires ad interim of the Embassy of Ukraine.

Hajiji said if the study brings positive indications, Sabah will build the 16th space launching facility in the world, said the statement further.
