KOTA KINABALU: The first celebration of Sabah Day is a tribute to the people of Sabah, said Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku (Star) Sabah Secretary-General Datuk Edward Linggu.

“The official celebration of the first Sabah Day also signifies that the voice of Sabah people’s rights defender Datuk Seri Dr Jeffrey G Kitingan had so far been heard by the Government,” he said.

Linggu said this when receiving a visit from the Star Paginatan delegation, led by Datuk Abidin Madingkir, to present the party’s 2,414 new membership forms from the area.

According to Linggu, the celebration of Sabah Day reflects the amendment of the Federal Constitution of Malaysia which was previously stated to have autonomy in immigration legislation, the distribution of 40 per cent of Sabah’s revenue, education and health, Sabah Border Scouts team and to consider the issuance of Sabah identity cards.

Therefore, Linggu who is also the Chairman of the Sabah Rubber Industry Board (LIGS), invites all political leaders in Sabah to celebrate Sabah Day together for the sake of prosperity and harmony in line with the direction of Sabah Maju Jaya.
