PETALING JAYA: The Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah, helped a Sarawakian woman select the name of her future firstborn child in the last leg of the “Kembara Kenali Borneo” tour.

Teacher Naldiana Umping was among locals in Betong, Sarawak, who were gathered at the Simpang Layar Petronas station to welcome the King and Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah as they stopped to refuel their vehicle.

According to The Borneo Post, Naldiana passed the King a piece of paper listing potential names for her future baby. She had handed over the paper just before the royal couple left, not expecting a response.

However, half an hour later, Pahang regent Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah took to Instagram to show the names Sultan Abdullah had selected.

The King had chosen Nichella Inez Starla if Naldiana’s first child is a girl, and Syderek Neville if it’s a boy.

“All the best to you! Tuanku Agong chose these names. His Majesty gives his blessings,” Tengku Hassanal said in the posting.

The English teacher then took a screenshot of the posting before printing it and getting it framed up.

“I did not expect the Agong or his son to reply or react to it since they received lots of gifts from the rakyat,” she said.

“I didn’t get a chance to talk to them since it was so crowded and I only managed to hand over the paper.”
