TUARAN: Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Hajiji Haji Noor said grassroots sentiment show that the people want the GRS-PH Plus Government to continue after the imminent State Election, expected late next year.
“This is the sentiment of the people, this is the inspiration of the people right now. They want us to continue ruling, they want a local party to be dominant in the election.
“God willing, Gagasan Rakyat, GRS and PH Plus will continue to govern after the next election.” said Hajiji, who is also Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah (Gagasan Rakyat) PresidentSpeaking at a membership form submission ceremony at the Kampung Kota Open Hall here, Sunday.
Hajiji who is also Sulaman Assemblyman acknowledged that there are other local parties, including Warisan, which GRS-PH deposed in the 2020 state election.
“Yes, there is Warisan, a local party, but they are only good at talking and not good at working. Since becoming Federal Rural Development Minister, let alone the Chief Minister for two and a half years, there is no direction,” he said, referring to Warisan President Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal.
“I have to clarify this because of the fact that they are not good at governing Sabah. I do not want the people to be swayed by lies and slander by certain leaders in Sabah. Enough of our fighting in politics. That is why we are slow to develop,” he said.
Hajiji said he took over the reins of the Sabah State Government in dire circumstances and during that time he was also infected with Covid-19.
However, during that time, he was able to think of ways to develop Sabah, including creating a direction to strengthen the economy and enshrine the Sabah Maju Jaya slogan.
“I took this Sabah Maju Jaya slogan for us to empower Sabah but the opposition leaders belittled and insulted it. The fact is, only during the GRS-PH Plus Government many success and outstanding achievements were created. Our track record is very clear.
“We introduced investor-friendly policies. We hosted the international economic conference in 2021 which was attended by more than 30 countries. This has never happened before. In four years, we managed to create almost 20.000 jobs,” he said.
On the entry of some grassroots leaders from the opposition party into Gagasan Rakyat, Hajiji who is also Sulaman Gagasan Rakyat Division Head welcomed1 their presence.
“I thank them and this is a very good development because I want there to be unity among the village communities here. From there, we will be able to establish a sense of friendship and good cooperation between them,” he said.
He received new membership forms from former Tuaran Warisan leaders Omar Bawi Zainuddin. Matussin Saidi and Ahmad Rawi as well as Rafi Said from Tuaran Umno.
