UNOFFICIAL: PN wins in Padang Serai

PN’s Azman Nasruddin is also the Lunas assemblyman.

PETALING JAYA: Unofficial results show that Perikatan Nasional’s Azman Nasrudin has won the Padang Serai parliamentary seat in Kedah.

Azman, from Bersatu, is also the Lunas assemblyman and had won the state seat on a PKR ticket in the 2018 polls.

There is a six-way fight for the Padang Serai seat between Azman, Sofee Razak of Pakatan Harapan, C Sivaraj (Barisan Nasional), Hamzah Abd Rahman (Pejuang), Bakhri Hashim (Warisan) and independent candidate Sreanandha Rao.

BN has given way to PH for the seat.

The election for the parliamentary seat was postponed following the death of PH’s M Karupaiya on Nov 16. The former Padang Serai MP is believed to have died due to a heart attack.

Karupaiya won the seat in the 2018 general election with a majority of over 8,000 votes.
