Religious teacher receives ‘Mutiara Al-Quran’ award

TAWAU: A Religious and Fardu Ain Class teacher, Siti Hatijah Marsudi, was accorded the “Mutiara Al-Quran” award at the Bicara Bonda programme in conjunction with the State-level Recitation and Quran-Memorising Ceremony, Tuesday.

The Chief Minister’s wife, Datin Seri Juliah Salag, presented the award to Siti Hatijah after officiating at the programme at the Tawau Community Hall.

Siti Hatijah, 50, the eldest of six siblings from Kg Merotai Kecil, here, had represented Sabah 11 times at national Al-Quran recitation ceremonies previously. 

Earlier, Juliah congratulated the recipients of the award and hoped they would continue contributing in the field of Al-Quran knowledge in the State.

“I hope this programme can be a platform to invigorate the culture of knowledge and increase the community’s interest in activities to appreciate Islamic values ​​in accordance with the demands of the Quran and Sunnah of Prophet Mohammad (S.A.W.)

“Hopefully, all the knowledge we gained during this talk can be shared with other friends who did not have the opportunity to participate in this ceremony.

“I hope such a ceremony can also be a platform to strengthen the values ​​of brotherhood and friendship among Muslims,”s ​​he said, adding that these two values ​​are the most important foundation of unity and strength of the ummah as taught by the holy book al-Quran al-Karim. 

The programme was organised for the second time by Mutiara GRS-BM in collaboration with the Special Tasks Ministry Office, Sabah Islamic Religious Council (Muis), Sabah Islamic Religious Affairs Department (Jheains), Malaysian Islamic Development Department (Jakim), Tawau Municipal Council (MPT) and several other agencies.
