NGO urges police to probe slander against Hajiji

KOTA KINABALU: A non-governmental organisation, Gerakan Kuasa Rakyat Malaysia (G57) has called on the police and relevant authorities to probe serious slander and allegations against the Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Haji Noor.

Its Chairman Datuk Zulkarnain Mahdar claimed opposition ridiculed Hajiji for shedding tears in his speech when opening the Usno headquarters at Wisma Usno, in Donggongon Avenue, Penampang on Sunday night (June 25).

Hajiji became emotional when recalling his involvement in politics which began in Usno in 1990 when late party president Tun Mustapha Datu Harun selected him to stand as an election candidate in Sulaman state constituency.

“The video which showed the Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah (PGRS) President shedding tears was modified and edited with insulting and humiliating words.

“Such action by irresponsible quarters and opposition have shown that they are indulging in unhealthy politicking,” he said, after lodging a police report at the City Police headquarters here on Tuesday.

Zulkarnain said the opposition needs to acknowledge Sabah’s progress under Hajiji’s leadership in governing the Sttae such as improving the State’s economic growth and bringing in many foreign investments here.

He said Hajiji who is also a people-oriented leader is very concerned on the people’s wellbeing and livelihood when expediting investments process to Sabah to offer jobs opportunities to the locals.
